ABOUT US

We exist to glorify God by evangelizing the lost, edifying one another, and equipping every believer to do ministry work.

Crossroads is an independent fellowship of believers which chooses to be a cooperating member of the Southern Baptist Convention, the Alabama Baptist State Convention, and the Colbert-Lauderdale Associations of Baptists.

Our Story

In 2005, a group of believers began seeking God's will concerning His plan for them. After much prayer, the group agreed that they should come to fellowship together and that God was directing them to start a local fellowship in the Elgin Crossroads community. The name, Crossroads Baptist Church, became the obvious choice for the new church fellowship. The desire was and is to be recognized as a church that embraces freedom of worship bound only by God's Word and not by tradition.

Our fellowship began in the former home of a local Bill's Dollar store on Highway 101 in Elgin. We held our first official worship in the dollar store on April 3, 2005, with 182 in attendance. In June 2006, we purchased the land of our permanent location. In March 2008, we broke ground on the new facility. In the summer of 2008, we were greatly blessed by almost 300 people coming from Builders for Christ. Then, with the continued financial help of the church and some outside companies, our building was completed in the Spring of 2009.

The weekend of April 24-26, 2009 marked the first services with a Friday Youth Concert, and 24 hours of continual Scripture reading from Saturday to Sunday leading up to the first worship service on that Sunday morning. The dedication of the new building was held on Sunday, May 31, 2009.
